India to Integrate DRDO’s Astra Mk-2 BVR Missile on Mirage 2000 Jets
India plans to integrate the DRDO-developed Astra Mk2 beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile with Mirage 2000 fighters. Developed with public-private support, including HAL, it has 200–240 km engagement range (high altitude), dual-pulse solid rocket motor, indigenous seeker by BEL, electronic counter-countermeasures, and two-way datalink for mid-course updates. It is ~190 mm in diameter and ~175 kg. Predecessor Astra Mk1 (90–110 km) is inducted in IAF on LCA Tejas and Su-30 MKI, with export potential.
