Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G)

Launch and Origin Has been launched in 2016 and is restructured from Indira Awas Yojana started in 1996.
Objective Provides for housing for all in rural areas through financial assistance for construction of pucca houses with basic amenities.
Beneficiaries Applies to houseless households and families living in zero, one, or two-room kutcha houses.
Targets Provides for target of 2.95 crore houses for FY 2016–17 to FY 2023–24 and additional 2 crore houses for FY 2024–25 to FY 2028–29.
Financial Assistance Provides for ₹1.20 lakh in plain areas and ₹1.30 lakh in hilly states with minimum unit size of 25 sq. m.
Funding Pattern Provides for cost sharing between Centre and States in the ratio of 60:40 in plain areas and 90:10 for North Eastern and Himalayan States.
Beneficiary Selection Provides for selection using Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011 housing deprivation parameters verified by Gram Sabhas.
Monitoring System Provides for end-to-end e-governance through AwaasSoft and Awaas App with additional monitoring through social audit, DISHA Committee, and government officials.
Direct Benefit Transfer Provides for transfer of financial assistance directly into beneficiary bank accounts.
Geo-tagging Provides for uploading of time and date-stamped photographs at each stage of construction for real-time monitoring.
Inspection Mechanism Provides for inspection of about 10% of houses by block-level officers and 2% by district officers at each stage.
Social Audit Provides for annual social audit in every Gram Panchayat.
