Fibre-Optic FPV Drones
Fibre-Optic FPV drones, also referred to as “invisible drones,” are being used in wars recently. These drones remain difficult to detect and jam because they connect to the operator through a physical fibre link rather than radio signals.
Fibre-Optic FPV Drones (Invisible drones):
| Dimension | Key Details |
|---|---|
| Electronic warfare resistance | The system comprises a physical fibre link instead of radio signals, and it provides for resistance to detection and jamming. |
| FPV connectivity | The drone comprises a thin fibre-optic cable connection to the operator. |
| Command and video transmission | The fibre-optic link provides for transmission of commands and live video as pulses of light. |
| Fibre optics medium | Fibre optics comprises very thin glass or plastic threads through which light can travel to carry information. |
| Working principle | Fibre optics is governed by the principle of total internal reflection. |
| Features | Key features comprise immunity to electronic warfare, difficult detection, and more accurate navigation in difficult terrains. |
| Challenges | Key challenges comprise limited reaction time and limited range. |
