Viksit Krishi: ₹10,000 Crore Internal Resource Target by 2029

At the 98th Foundation Day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the roadmap for Viksit Krishi is unveiled as a key pillar of Viksit Bharat 2047. The roadmap specifies goals, targets, and new releases related to climate-resilient, technology-driven, and globally competitive agriculture.

One Institute–One Grand Innovation	Mandates each ICAR institute to deliver at least 1 transformational innovation within 2 years, covering crop variety, vaccine, digital tool, and climate-smart solution.
Technology Outreach target	Provides for extending ICAR technologies and innovations to 100 million farmers by ICAR’s 100th Foundation Day.
Mission ICAR-100 (KVK transformation)	Provides for transforming Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) into innovation hubs, climate advisory centres, startup support centres, and farmer demonstration centres; outreach applies to at least 100 villages per KVK.
KVK definition	Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is an agricultural extension centre in India that acts as the crucial bridge between agricultural research institutions and practising farmers.
Digital Knowledge Platform	Provides for establishing an ICAR Open Digital Knowledge Platform for free farmer access to advisories, crop guidance, soil testing, weather forecasts, and market updates.
Counterfeit control	Provides for strengthening legal provisions against counterfeit seeds and pesticides, and developing simple field-level verification technologies.
Internal resource target	Provides for generating ₹10,000 crore internal resources by 2029 through commercialisation of ICAR technologies, crop varieties, vaccines, and licensing.
New releases	Provides for 43 new crop varieties, 17 technologies/products, and 14 publications.
Coverage of new releases	Comprises high-yielding, disease-resistant crops, nutrient-rich varieties, livestock and fisheries vaccines, and digital agri-solutions.
