Bharat GenAI National Initiative

Bharat GenAI is in the news as it is set to complete text models in all 22 scheduled languages this month, as stated by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology. It currently supports 15 Indian languages and is presented as a government supported national initiative for sovereign foundational AI models tailored to Indian languages and societal contexts.
