India–Australia ECTA Marks Four Years

The India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement continues to enhance bilateral trade and sectoral cooperation. The agreement provides for expanded market access and increased trade flows between the two countries.

India–Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA):

Preferential Tariff Access Provides for India granting access on 70.3% tariff lines and Australia granting access on 100% tariff lines covering all imports from India.

Sectoral Gains Comprises increased exports in textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and agricultural products.
Organic Sector Cooperation Provides for signing of Mutual Recognition Arrangement in the organic sector.
Strategic Framework Comprises cooperation in Indo-Pacific region through Quad, Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative Partnership, and 2+2 ministerial dialogue.
Defence Cooperation Provides for joint naval exercise AUSINDEX and Mutual Logistics Support Agreement signed in 2021.
Energy Cooperation Provides for collaboration under Critical Minerals Investment Partnership and renewable energy including green hydrogen.
